|Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture should not hurt. In fact, acupuncture treatment should be a very relaxing and comfortable experience. A momentary prick is often felt around the needle as it is inserted, eventually creating a dull pressure or tingling around the area during treatment
Is acupuncture safe?
As long as it is performed by a competent practitioner, acupuncture is extremely safe. Acupuncturists are required to use sterilized and disposable needles that are discarded after one use. There are also little to no side effects associated with acupuncture treatment.
What conditions are treated with acupuncture?
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed depends upon the nature of the problem, the severity, and the duration of the problem. Acute conditions may only require two or three treatments for resolution. Chronic conditions may require six to ten treatments, while severe conditions may require more. During the initial consultation, a treatment plan will be discussed, and a trial of four treatments is typically recommended. After the fourth treatment, you will be re-evaluated and the number of treatments needed can be better estimated.
